British Columbia Salmon Fishing

For this adventure with the Fishy Boys the trip started out up in Alaska and included Scott, Keith and Brett (the original Fishy Boys) as well as Keith’s dad Mike and Brett’s dad Big Ben.  We had a great week of fishing up north and caught a ton of salmon and  trout on the fly and some Halibut out in the Cook Inlet fishing deep.  You can see pictures of that trip in the gallery section of the site.

On our way home from Alaska, we flew into Seattle and met up with the Fishy Girls; Heather, Josie, Jenine, Ben’s wife Sue and added a couple with the Lilly’s, Joe and Stephanie.  Tim, the camera guy tagged along and we had a classic adventure in the making.

We flew by float plane from Seattle up to the Northern tip of Vancouver Island and just across the inside passage on smaller Malcom Island was our home for the next four days, Sund’s Lodge.

Sund’s Lodge is a 5 star fishing lodge for many reasons and it was very conducive to the fishy girls joining us on a trip that was considerably “less rustic” than some of our other trips.  They (the girls) did have to put up with some early wake up calls – in the unique Sunds’ Lodge fashion –  and some chilly temperatures, but I think the fine wine, great food and stellar accommodations and service made it a trip they all truly enjoyed and will remember for a long time to come.

We used traditional mooch gear to troll for the salmon and some heavier gear for more halibut fishing.  The fishing in B.C. was slower than the non-stop action we enjoyed up in Alaska the week prior, but the scenery, good friends and relaxing environment more than made up for the slower fishing.  I think the highlights for the girls were probably the fresh crab beach lunch and the sightseeing afternoon watching orcas, humpbacks, bald eagles and other local British Columbia critters.

A great time was had by all and we certainly look forward to future visits to Sund’s Lodge.

We are still working on the video format and tried to feature the lodge a bit more in this one, but as always, please leave any comments or questions that you might have.

Hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed the trip.
